Working within the mission, vision and core values of Wing Kei, the Facilities Coordinator oversees facilities operations and maintenance, and supports the housekeeping/laundry function at Wing Kei. This position assists in ensuring that Wing Kei is safe, healthy, and well-maintained for residents and staff, in accordance with the government policies and standards, the organization’s vision, strategic direction and Person/Family Centred Care approach.
THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities
- Supports the delivery of high-quality facility services, including maintenance and housekeeping/laundry, while ensuring compliance with relevant government legislations, building and sanitation guidelines and standards.
- Oversees facilities maintenance and ensures that Wing Kei equipment and infrastructure are kept in good operating condition through regular inspections, repairs, and coordination with external vendors/contractors when necessary.
- Effectively plans, directs and implements assigned facility projects within scope, schedule, and budget, while in compliance with all relevant legislations.
- Manages facilities-related emergencies and is responsible for 24/7 on-call service related to building maintenance, safety, and security matters.
- Coordinates externally with vendors/contractors and internally with other teams to facilitate cross-department maintenance works and projects.
- Supports departmental operation planning, including scheduling, training, staff performance reviews and program implementation.
- Assists in managing departmental budgets, inventory control, and procurement of supplies.
- Assists in conducting emergency response exercises.
- Communicates and collaborates with interdepartmental groups to assist and enable organizational operations and effective service.
THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED
- Post-secondary education at the college or university level in engineering, construction-related fields or approved equivalent, or Facilities Management Certificate (FMC), Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC), Trades Certificate, 4th / 5th Class Power Engineer or equivalent.
- 1-3 years in facilities management experience; experience in a supervisory role is an asset.
- Good time management skills; self-starter, adaptable, and flexible.
- Ability to deal change proactively; creative and innovative.
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of legislations and relevant procedures regarding building standards, Emergency Responses, Occupational Health & Safety, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping/laundry functions.
- Computer literacy required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English, knowledge of Chinese is a definite asset.
