THE OPPORTUNITY
Working under general supervision of the Clinical Manager, this position is responsible for providing clerical support to the nursing units, taking meeting notes at Care team meetings, communicating information between nursing and other departments, residents and families, maintaining confidentiality of resident information. This position may also be required to assist residents in the activities of daily living.
THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities
- Demonstrates, promotes and advocates the Wing Kei vision, mission and core values
- Provides clerical assistance to the nursing units, Director of Care and other management personnel as required
- Provides clerical assistance for the MDS program
- Maintenance of Medical Records Room and discharge records
- Creates and maintains current resident files and records, keeps files of old records
- Transferring data on residents’ weights and blood pressures on MDS
- Accumulation, graphing and distribution of monthly statistics
- Performs data entry for various records
- Distribution of mail to various units, and coordinate nursing mail
- Under direction of the charge nurses, prepares designated lab work and completes lab and other requisition forms
- In conjunction with scheduler/nursing staff, obtains relief staff for replacement calls
- Under direction of the charge nurse, maintains all nursing offices, including filing and obtaining office supplies
- Maintains inventory of supplies, orders and replenishes supplies as needed
- Ensures equipment is maintained in good working order
- Other duties as assigned
THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED

- Completion of a Unit Clerk program or equivalent
- Proven computer skills and word processing experience required
- Typing of minimum 40 wpm
- Customer service-orientated; works well with interdisciplinary teams
- Effective Communication skills including writing and speaking

- Ability to work independently
