On May 12, 2020, the residents at Greenview Supportive Living enjoyed a curbside Chinese Opera Performance by volunteer Kristy Lee. Dressed in a beautiful and vibrant traditional blue costume, Kristy danced to the song 窺醉 from the Chinese Opera 蝶影紅梨記. In English it is called The Butterfly and the Red Pear Blossom.
On February 21, Honourable Josephine Pon, Minister of Seniors and Housing, met and sang with seniors at Greenview!! Minister Pon shared her fond memories of visiting Wing Kei last year during the Senior Week, and brought New Year greetings, red packets and cakes to share with seniors. Joys of laughter and singing filled the hall of Wing Kei.
With lion dance and joyful Chinese New Year music, all residents dressed up smartly to participate in their New Year banquets in the Wing Kei community. Lots of family members and friends were also in the midst to enjoy this home cooked 10 course dinner prepared through the warm hearts and skills of our Food Services team. At the Crescent Heights banquet on February 1 we have served over 200 residents and guests, while at Greenview on February 8 we have served over 300 residents and guests.
“This is my 3rd year coming to visit the Wing Kei seniors, which I always love, especially during this happy occasion of the Lunar New Year…..” Madam Lu and her team visited seniors at Greenview on February 5, and was warmly greeted by our seniors who happily welcomed her as “our old friend”.

On October 5, 13 exciting graduates (family members, volunteers, staff) have just finished their 2-day nationally recognized certificate training, and proudly sharing that “I am trained to provide Mental Health First Aid”! Mental Health First Aid Seniors (MHFA Seniors) is an international program active in over 20 countries. In Canada, MHFA training and courses are developed and mandated through The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). Wing Kei believes in promoting mental health in seniors, we recognize the importance of early intervention, and that mental health knowledge is key to all. Fortunate to have in house certified trainers, Wing Kei provides regular training on “MHFA Seniors” since 2018.
Gordon Lam, one of the leaders at Food Services at Wing Kei, has joined us since 2015. In this video, Gordon will tell us why he loves working in Wing Kei so much.
It was a record-setting day in the 19th annual Wing Kei Walkathon for Seniors. Close to 1,600 participants joined the family-oriented event on June 22 and have pledged over $335,000 for Wing Kei.
