The Manager of Hospitality is uniquely positioned to lead key support services underpinning the comfort, safety, and “sense of home” environment for our residents.

THE ROLE 

Working closely with the Director of Hospitality and Facilities, you are the leader of the Hospitality team who models our values, promotes our strong organization culture, and informs strategic priorities. The Manager of Hospitality will be responsible for managing all aspects of daily operations in support services. You champion person and family centred care, demonstrate excellence in client service, and steward resources/budget wisely. Maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders will be a priority as you facilitate solutions and maintenance of high standards.

Key Accountabilities

All Wing Kei leaders are personally accountable for their own integrity, effectiveness, contributions, and continued professional growth. Expertise and experience in health care organizations would ensure your understanding of our programs and services and how Hospitality services are relevant to sustain our reputation as a top provider of senior care.

Key responsibilities of the Manager of Hospitality include:

• Working with the Director of Hospitality and Facilities, evaluates priorities and make decisions based on strategic priorities and mission
• Ensures that services are delivered within the scope of safe practice and in compliance with relevant government legislations and standards
• Regularly monitors and improves hospitality programs, policies and procedures
• Leads and mentors Hospitality (Food Services and Housekeeping) staff, promoting Wing Kei culture of staff engagement and a positive workplace
• Proactive with workforce planning, includes recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management
• Ongoing review and process improvement relating to budgetary and expenditure controls
• Skilled in balancing own department’s needs and efficiencies with other departments requirements and priorities
• Maintains good communications and effective relationships with other departments’ team members, and as needed, with contractors, the public, residents, and volunteers
• Develops own team’s capacity for emergent or changing needs of the organization
• Effective negotiation skills that emphasize teamwork and positive relationships
• Responsible for vendor selection and inventory management
• Implements technology, protocols, and maximizes resources to provide hospitality services for residents, visitors, volunteers and staff
• Proactively ensures quality of client/resident services, which includes safety standards in Food Services, Infection Prevention and Control, Occupational Health & Safety, and high standards for Housekeeping
• Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in Hospitality Services within Health Care sector
• Handles concerns and complaints with focus on follow up and appropriate resolution
• Investigates staff injuries, prepares analysis, recommendations and submits reports on incidents
• Spearheads continuous learning; participates in and contributes to in-service training

THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED

• Is aligned with and actively demonstrates Wing Kei’s vision and mission
• Has a minimum of 5 years of related experience; demonstrated skills in managing people, administrative and operational activities in providing excellent client service
• Health Care related professional experience preferred; Hospitality management experience considered an asset with a strong aptitude for transferring skills
• Demonstrated skills in developing rapport, building strong relationships within own and other teams
• Shows sound judgment, integrity, values-based decision-making and models professionalism, in particular with unexpected or emergent situations
• Communicates well and skillfully inspires and encourages team to do their best
• Knowledge and experience with legislative and safety practices in continuing care facility accommodation, health inspection and accreditation audits would be an asset
• Is reliable, self-motivated, independent, flexible and proactive in a fast-paced workplace
• Stays organized and positive through organizational change and challenges
• Actively connects with families, donors, and partners to advance Wing Kei’s mission and priorities
• Is flexible with work schedule if in-person support is required, sometimes evenings and weekends
• Possesses an excellent track record of stewardship in a non-profit environment
• Recognized Food Safety Certificate (or willing to complete within 90 days of hire)
• Experience with risk management and change management is preferred
